Meet Dr. Erika Wilken
Dr. Erika Wilken joined the Optical Expressions family in 2006 as an Associate Doctor. Dr. Wilken earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 2005 as her class Salutatorian. She completed her ocular disease residency at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in 2006.
Dr. Wilken became the lead optometrist in our practice in 2015. She strives to build long-term eye care relationships by paying attention to each individual’s eye care needs, including but not limited to diagnosis and management of ocular disease and specialty contact lens fittings. Her training in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology has enabled her to recognize various health issues, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertension.
Dr. Wilken regularly attends continuing education seminars and advanced training courses in order to provide her patients with the most modern and progressive vision care available. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Dr. Wilken lives in Tempe, Arizona, with her husband, Steve, and their teenage daughter, Lexi. Her many interests include travel, physical fitness, cooking/dining out, and supporting a variety of sports teams. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Arizona Optometric Association (AZOA). She is a current board member for the Arizona Optometric Charitable Foundation (AzOCF).

Meet Dr. Francisco Chacon
Francisco L. Chacon, O.D. joined Optical Expressions as an associate in 2015. Dr. Chacon earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Mexico and his Doctorate degree from Pacific University College of Optometry, where he was a member of the prestigious honor society Beta-Sigma Kappa. Dr. Chacon completed externships in several modes of practice. He gained valuable experience working at some of the nation’s preeminent vision therapy practices, as well as participating in ocular disease management at Norton Sound Indian Health Hospital in Nome, Alaska.
Dr. Chacon performs comprehensive eye examinations and enjoys seeing patients of all ages and vision needs He has a wide variety of experience in ocular diseases, pediatric optometry, and contact lenses. In his words, “I have always been fascinated with vision and what it brings to our lives; and I will always be grateful that I am able to enhance and preserve this quality of life for so many people.” In his spare time, Dr. Chacon enjoys spending quality time with his wife and three young children. He also likes fishing, hiking, and bike riding.

Meet Dr. Ralston
Dr. Ralston is an Arizona native and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. She then attended Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ, for her doctorate in optometry, where she graduated with Beta Sigma Kappa honors. Rounding out her education at Midwestern, Dr. Ralston completed clinical externships in Hawaii, Albuquerque, and Scottsdale, where she gained experience in treating ocular disease and co-managing patients with ophthalmology. Dr. Ralston continued her education with a residency in primary care at The Vision Center of West Phoenix, where she saw patients of all ages from around Arizona. She received special training in managing and treating ocular diseases such as dry eye, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetes, and also in fitting specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Ralston is excited to join the team at Optical Expressions in providing eye care to those in her hometown. In her spare time, Dr. Ralston enjoys spending time with her husband, Ken, and her rescue dog, Mika. She enjoys traveling, hiking, and baking.

Meet Dr. Koster
Originally from south-central Kansas, Dr. Jennifer Koster has been proudly serving patients across the Phoenix and Scottsdale area since 2005. She earned her bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Kansas before moving to Chicago to graduate from the Illinois College of Optometry. She then completed externships in Chicago, Kansas, Florida, and Mesa, AZ.
With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Koster combines primary eye care with a personal, compassionate touch. She has personal clinical interest in managing dry eye conditions and protecting the developing vision of pediatric patients. She offers cutting-edge myopia control solutions, including MiSight contact lenses and Stellest glasses lenses, to help slow down the progression of nearsightedness in children.
Dr. Koster truly believes that frame styling and specialized vision correction at all distances – whether through glasses or contact lenses – enrich a patient’s lifestyle. She takes pride in tailoring everyday vision solutions to match each individual’s unique daily activities and personal aesthetic.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Koster loves staying active by exercising, reading historical fiction, serving her church community, exploring local dining spots, and cheering on her favorite Arizona sports teams. Most of all, she loves spending time with her family – including her husband, James, who is a local cataract surgeon, and their three children.
